DE-ICER KEEPS DOCKS SAFE AND PREVENTS WINTER FISH KILL
KANSAS CITY, MO – January 10, 2014 – As fall gives way to winter, now is the time to think about a de-icer for your dock or body of water. In freezing temperatures, a de-icer keeps areas open for ducks, geese, and other water fowl as well as keeping an open area preventing winter fish kills. Late fall is the best time for dock and pond owners to install a de-icing product before moving water turns to solid ice leaving damaged boats and piers come spring.
In 1967, Air-O-Lator Corporation developed the original Ice-Away de-icer designed to prevent ice formation in marinas and around docks. For over 45 years, the Ice-Away has proved to be an efficient, environmentally safe way to protect docks, boats, and piers from ice damage. With a scientifically engineered high-speed propeller, the Ice-Away lifts 500 gallons of water per minute upward to the surface, simultaneously drawing the warmer water from below.
"Our uniquely designed motor mount/diffuser redirects the water flow outward creating a larger area of coverage," Air-O-Lator President Roy Watkins explains. "The Ice-Away is capable of keeping an 8 foot diameter area of open water for every foot of propeller depth. The average suspended depth is approximately 5 feet up to a maximum of 8 feet."
The stainless steel Franklin Electric submersible motor is water cooled and lubricated making it eco-friendly. No seals and bearings make the product easy to maintain and mounting is simple with a single rope using the sling approach.
