General Equipment's EP8HL hazardous location air ventilation blower is certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for use in National Electric Code® Class I, Group D; Class II, Group G; Class III hazardous location atmospheres only and for use in all nonhazardous locations. The unit is designed for areas containing hazardous atmospheres including petrochemical plants, fuel servicing facilities, industrial processing locations and grain elevators.
Power is supplied by a 1/3-horsepower, 115 VAC explosion-proof electric motor. Other design features include spark-proof, aluminum-alloy construction, self-contained on/off switch and wiring components meeting hazardous location specifications. A flexible power cord and male plug allow the unit to be connected directly into appropriate, hazardous location receptacles, eliminating the need for costly hard wiring by certified electricians. To properly make use of the hazardous location male plug, extension cords are available in 50- and 100-foot lengths.
Air ducts are constructed from a statically conductive material to minimize the potential for a static discharge causing an explosion. Ducts are available in standard 15- and 25-foot lengths. A captive attaching mechanism ensures that the duct is properly grounded to the blower. Also, a separate ground strap is provided for static dissipation redundancy.
